Damon braces – get the Damon system bracelift
Damon braces may look like traditional metal braces but behind the scenes there’s a lot more going on. The technology used in the Damon system allows the braces to respond better to your teeth’s movement.
Benefits of Damon Braces
If you are wearing traditional metal braces, your orthodontist will have attached brackets to the front surface of your teeth and ‘tied in’ arch wires with small, sometimes colourful, elastic bands.
The Damon system uses what is called ‘sliding doors’. These ‘doors’ hold the arch wire in place but rather than fixing it, the arch wire has the flexibility to move, or slide. This allows it to respond to your teeth, helping them to move into their new, straighter position.
Many patients who have worn Damon braces report straighter teeth and a change in their facial profile. This is called ‘The Damon System Bracelift’. If Damon braces are suitable for you, you could benefit from:
- A fuller, wider smile
- Better facial balance and aesthetics
- Smoother cheek contours which make narrow smiles look fuller and more inviting
- Fewer dark triangles within the corners of your mouth
- Straighter, less crowded and crooked teeth
- Improved profiles for a more youthful look at any age
Dr Pieter van Heerden, principal orthodontist here at St Albans Orthodontics is renowned internationally for his work with Damon braces. He also travels regularly to lecture on the Damon system technology.
