On 1st April 2006 the Government introduced new arrangements for NHS orthodontic treatment which are designed to target treatment to those with greatest health need. We want you to be aware, before we see your child, that NHS treatment may not be available if the health need does not fit the new criteria.
Due to restrictions in funding and regulations within the NHS, we have introduced an independent fee structure for affordable ‘NHS equivalent’ orthodontic treatment for those patients not eligible for NHS treatment.
Our private patients have access to a much wider range of treatment plans and options.
First Appointment
You will initially be seen by one of our orthodontists for an assessment to discuss the best treatment options available to you and your eligibility for NHS treatment. A screening x-ray will also be taken to assess your growth and development. A follow-up examination will be required to take further records if you are eligible and ready for NHS treatment.
Treatment
The braces will then be designed and fitted. Over the treatment time the braces will be regularly adjusted to gradually move the teeth into the correct positions.
Retention
When your braces are removed you will need to wear retainers. Retainers are clear plastic trays worn full time for a week and then at nights only. Retention is a vital part of the treatment, as they keep your teeth in place.
Loss of appliances
If you have lost your brace and it needs to be replaced, there will be a charge of £56.70, per brace. The NHS do not pay for any replacements.
Emergencies
If you have any breakages or problems, please contact us for help or to arrange an emergency appointment.
When booking emergency appointments, we have to fit patients in where appointments are available. |
